LOS ANGELES — Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx was immortalized on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame” on Friday, becoming the 2,347th celebrity to have a star bearing his name laid on the sidewalk.

Foxx, winner of the best actor Academy Award in 2005 for his portrayal of soul singer Ray Charles in “Ray,” paid tribute to his grandmother during a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.

Foxx, who also starred in the hit musical “Dreamgirls,” is to appear in action-thriller “The Kingdom” later this month.

Meanwhile Foxx had words of support for troubled singer Britney Spears, whose comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend has been savaged by critics this week.
