‘Twilight’ sequel will go to a new ‘man’

Summit Entertainment announced that the sequel of the 2008 blockbuster romantic-suspense film ‘Twilight’ will go to a new man.

Robert Pattinson is still the films official lead actor but the directorial position for its sequel is about to be given to Chris Weitz as a replacement to its former director Catherine Hardwicke. Weitz, the man behind the hollywood sci-fi film ‘The Golden Compass,’ is going to take charge Stepheni Meyer’s second installment of her best-selling book, New Moon. Wietz is best known for co-directing and co-producing ‘American Pie,’ and for having been nominated for an Academy Award for best screenplay for te film ‘About a Boy.’

Catherine Hardwicke’s departure on Twilight is due toconflic of her directing schedules. “I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct New Moon. Directing Twilight has been one the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel—it is a great story.” Hardwicke said.

Twilight has already grossed more than $141 million and Weitz was considered by the studio to replace Hardwicke for his mastery with special effects. At press time, Wietz have not yet signed an agreement bu the deal is about to happen. Summit has already stopped its quest for potential New Monn director thus, proving Weitz already imminent job. The firm is officialy planning to announce the hiring decision on Sunday, December 14, eyeing the film’s pre-production start early next week.
